UnitedHealthcare Shared Services Expansion for Government Employees Health Association (GEHA)

Through a UnitedHealthcare Shared Services arrangement with Government Employees Health Association (GEHA), UnitedHealthcare currently provides network access to more than 106,000 Federal Employee Health Benefit Plan (FEHB) members residing in MD, DC, VA, DE, OK, CO and UT.

Effective Jan. 1, 2013 UnitedHealthcare will expand their agreement with GEHA to provide members from: AL, AK, ID, IA, MT, MN, NE, NM, LA, MS, ND, SD, TN, WV, WI, and WY access to the UnitedHealthcare Options PPO network.

As of Jan. 1, 2013 GEHA is terminating direct contracts with providers in these states and will be accessing UnitedHealthcare Options PPO provider contracts.

InforMed provides impatient medical and mental health utilization management for the GEHA membership and UnitedHealthcare has delegated inpatient Utilization Management Services for this membership (e.g., Notification, Initial Determination, Inpatient Care Management and Appeals) to InforMed. InforMed uses Milliman Care Guidelines® and is URAC accredited in Health Utilization Management.

For eligibility, summary of benefits, outpatient precertification requirements and claim status for FEHB members in a specified state call the dedicated self-service line at 877-343-1887 or email uhss@umr.com

All GEHA member ID’s are a combination of numeric and alpha and are 12 characters. Example: 2xxxxxxxGEHA. To properly route claim(s), please include the GEHA at the end of the ID number.
